6th Place finish at Road America today after some bad luck

Another wild day today at Road America. Made a good getaway from 5th, and actually had a look for 4th into Turn 1, but thought better of it after what happened last year when I spun on the first lap. Then a little later on I got some help from behind and was spun off the track in Turn 5. In my scramble to save the car, the wheel jerked at me and dislocated my shoulder. I pulled back on track in 11th, put my shoulder back in on the next straight and set to work moving back to the front.
From there it was some classic Road America racing, with everyone racing really hard and drafting by each other on the straights. After 30 minutes of passing, getting passed, and passing back again, I eventually battled my way all the way up to the lead pack, and finished 6th, right there with the leaders. Knowing I fought my way through today definitely gives me confidence that I can move up from my 10th place starting position tomorrow.
I’m back at the hotel with some ice on a very sore shoulder but should be good to go in the morning. I’ll be battling hard and have my sets set firmly on the podium! The race tomorrow is at 10:10AM Central so be sure to check out live timing at http://livetiming.net/scca/VW, and my twitter at twitter.com/jakethompson19 for updates!
Thanks for all your support!
