Welcome back to another installment of your favourite blog, written by a not at all famous racing driver, about things that probably didn’t happen. The latest round of the TDI Cup took place in scenic Chicago, so what better way to tell the story then with a photo diary, because everyone loves looking at fuzzy amateur photography (with the occasional sprinkle of professional photos from Bruce Lancaster, which shouldn’t be hard to pick out). So now that I have written enough words to fill out the excerpt and not mess up the formatting of my website theme, lets get started.

I promised fuzzy amateur photography and I have delivered. Chicago from the air

Fans arriving at Autobahn Country Club for Round 6 of the TDI Cup

"Raise your hand if you can speak Flemish? Just me... ok then"

Seriously who put this Belgian guy in charge of the trackwalk? Oh right, it's because he's always faster than me... crap.

Blue Steel

#19 car all ready for practice. You'll notice there was a new sponsor on the side this weekend (Staubli). I have heard rumours that the series sponsors are all fighting over who gets to be on the side of my car. Just rumours though.

On track in the wet, yes I'm aware that my helmet looks bitchin'

The real reason I don't like driving in the rain

This is the face that race car drivers make when they do up the crotch belts on their 6-point harness. Too much information? Too bad

If you look closely you will see that the tire is no longer on the wheel. This is because on occasion my superior talents result in me taking the car beyond what physics can sustain. In other words I F'ed up.

Back on track after two popped tires. Thanks to the techs for an F1 speed tire change, and for duct tapping my fenders back on after I dragged a flailing tire carcass 3.2 miles back to the pits.

On my way to the best damn 4th place finish in racing history

Visiting the Windy City after the race

IT'S NOT BLURRY!!!!! Amateur photography at its finest! (photo taken by Sarah, not Jake)

Lights, Cameras, Bitchin Technology! The set of Transformers 3. The director asked if I wanted to replace Shia LaBoeuf but I told him I only do art house films

Downtown Chicago, not at all scenic, probably not worth visiting

"ooooohhhhhh shiny!"

At Wrigley as a special guest of the Chicago Cubs. They were going to ask me to throw out the first pitch, but decided they didn't want to cause me any hassle. They also let me buy my own ticket so I could get the full experience of feeling like any other normal fan.

The Cubs then honoured my presence with this masterful performance

All in all another great weekend in the glamorous life of a diesel sedan racing driver. Next up is Road America which I’m excited for as Wisconsin is teeming with Jake Thompson fans.
